Madison Elle Beer from Long Island, New York was an early lover of music. She began making videos in 2012 of her performing covers of popular songs. Justin Bieber, a pop star, saw her rendition of Etta's "At Last" within a few months and then shared it with Bieber's 25 million+ followers on Twitter. The coverage led to her signing a contract with a record label with Island Records, and then an agreement to manage Bieber's manager. The same year, Beer was also cast in a small part in the film of independent filmmakers Louder Than Words, which was starring David Duchovny and made its debut at the film festival in 2013. Her debut single, the poppy, melismatic "Melodies," also saw its release later in the year.Beer's vocals were first heard on songs by other artists including Cody Simpson's "Valentine" and the 2015 club track "I Will Not Let You Walk Away" by Mako. She released her debut solo album As She Pleases in 2018. The lead single "Home with You" landed in the Top 30 in Norway, while the album landed in the top part of the Billboard 200. The same year, Beer issued the non-album single "Hurts Like Hell" featuring Offset.
