Despacito from Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi, and Daddy Yankee became the song that was streamed the most within less than six weeks. In 2017, the single Despacito, a mixture of reggaeton with pop music was not only a way to bring new interest to reggaeton but also sparked interest in Latin music. Billboard's Top 100 included four mostly Spanish songs from 2016 as opposed to two in 2015. During the height of Despacito's popularity in 2017, however, 19 mostly Spanish songs made it to the top 100, and in 2020 there were 41 of them. In the wake of Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in the year 2017 the most well-known artists began to join forces with reggaeton musicians. Drake and Bad Bunny were part of a team on MIA (2018) and Madonna collaborated with Maluma for Medellin in the year 2019. In the year 2020, some Reggaeton performers were expressing displeasure about the direction of their genre to the mainstream. However, a younger generation like Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the trend going. He often incorporated elements from electronic dance music, as well as different genres.
